Four ministries in Egypt signed a cooperation protocol to implement a project to turn rural houses into production units. Industry Minister Hatem Saleh had suggested that rural houses be developed to become small factories that provide agricultural produce, livestock and fish. The ministries of industry, housing, scientific research and agriculture signed the deal with the Mining Renaissance Association (MRA). The initiative will first be implemented at the Construction Research Institute in the October 6 city, said MRA deputy chairman Safwat Abdel-Bari on Friday. The Academy of Scientific Research will supply rural houses with advanced equipment including machines to cultivate barley, solar power generators, units to produce biogas, food processing machines and a water reservoir to irrigate barley and breed fish, Abdel-Bari said. The four ministries have agreed to secure the finances for the project, which will create many jobs for Egyptians.
