Amman - Arabstoday
His Majesty King Abdullah and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah on Sunday held talks on means to enhance bilateral ties and discussed regional developments, particularly the events in Syria. During the meeting, held at the Dasman Palace in Kuwait City, the two leaders stressed their keenness to enhance cooperation, particularly in economic, commercial and investment fields, in a manner that serves the interests of both countries, according to a Royal Court statement. Kuwait is one of the major investors in the Kingdom, with investments standing at around JD10 billion. The King and the emir stressed their keenness to continue consultation and coordination to help activate and enhance Arab unity and serve Arab and Muslim issues. Regarding regional developments and the peace process, the two leaders voiced their support to the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate rights and realising their aspirations in freedom and establishing their own independent and viable state on Palestinian national soil in line with the two-state solution. The two leaders also discussed the accelerating events in Syria and stressed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis to end the violence and the bloodshed in the country, and put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people. They welcomed an invitation by Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to hold an extraordinary summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Talks also focused on means to increase and activate joint Arab work in order to serve strategic interests of Arab countries. The Kuwaiti emir held an iftar banquet in honour of King Abdullah, who returned to the Kingdom late Sunday, and the accompanying delegation. In Amman earlier on Sunday, Crown Prince Hussein was sworn in as Regent. From jordantimes
