Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) has allocated $30 million for reconstruction of Abyan governorate, Chairman of the AFESD Board of Directors said Wednesday. During his meeting with Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa, Abdul Latif al-Hamad said that the sum is a contribution of the Fund to help the government\'s effort rebuild Abyan. Al-Hamad briefed the Premier on the projects the Fund is carrying out in Yemen and the agreements that would be signed during his visit to the country to implement various development projects. He indicated to the agreement signed today to finance the 4th phase of the capital\'s sanitation network worth of $54 million, saying that \"the agreement\'s fund is part of the $510 million pledge the AFESD has announced in Riyadh donor meeting last year.\" The Prime Minister valued highly the aid the AFESD has provided to Yemen for over four decades in various fields and different situations. Basindwa and al-Hamad discussed the role the AFESD could play in support of the government\'s plan during the transitional stage as well as the projects the AFESD could funds in the country.
