
Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan today met Arab Labour Organisation director-general Ahmed Mohammed Luqman and discussed Arab coordination in international arenas. The two sides stressed the need to coordinate pan-Arab stances regarding the agenda of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) board meetings in Geneva. The minister stressed the (ALO) pivotal role in elaborating a unified pan-Arab stance in, underscoring the importance for Arab counties to use their leverage to clarify their policies and viewpoints and urge the international community to heed the specificities of Arab societies, values and achievements. He affirmed the Arab countries’ commitment to the basic international labour criteria and support for the tripartite social dialogue. Meanwhile, Mr. Luqman commended Bahrain for its landmark achievements and commitment to ALO and ILO starts. He hailed the tripartite dialogue in Bahrain, describing the experience as a modal to emulate in settling labour disputes, expressing the hope that it would yield positive results.
