Bangladesh's account balance recorded a surplus of nearly one and a half billion U.S. dollars in July-November period of the current 2013-14 fiscal year ending June, a central bank official said Thursday. The Bangladesh Bank (BB) official who preferred to be unnamed said the current account balance showed the surplus of 1,384 million U.S. dollars during the five months of the current fiscal year 2013-14 (July 2013-June 2014) against the surplus of 433 million U.S. dollars during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (July 2012-June 2013). He said the central bank's current account balance and overall balance of payments have maintained positive trend as growth in export earnings and inflow of remittances bolstered. Bangladeshis living and working abroad remitted home more than 5.56 billion dollars in the first five months of the current 2013- 14 fiscal year, the BB data showed. On the other hand, it showed the country exported 11.815 billion dollars worth of goods in the July-November period of the current fiscal year.
