U.S. airplane maker Boeing will expand its facilities in Everett, Wash., to manufacture the wings for its new 777X jetliner, the Seattle Times reported Sunday. The Chicago company will build the wing facility next to the wide-body jet final assembly plant, the Seattle Times said, siting sources it described as people knowledgeable about the plans. Boeing is expected to make the announcement as early as Tuesday, the newspaper said. The decision, which represents an investment of up to $4 billion, assures more than a decade of work for thousands of workers who will make the composite-plastic wings, the Times said. The newspaper's sources said Boeing will demolish some existing buildings and use land used for employee parking to make room for the new facility. Boeing officials could not be reached for comment, the Times said.
