Industrial production and manufacturing rose from the first quarter to the second in Great Britain, the national data office said. Production rose 0.6 percent quarter to quarter while manufacturing in the same period rose 0.7 percent, the Office of National Statistics said Tuesday. Manufacturing, which fell 0.2 percent in the first quarter, was the largest contributor to the gains in industrial production, ONS said. The agency said production rose 1.1 percent from May to June and 1.2 percent from June 2012 to June 2013. In 12 months, production gains included contributions from a broad-based gain of 1.9 percent in manufacturing, with all sectors showing increases -- and with the largest increase coming from a 5.3 percent boost in transportation equipment. ONS said the preliminary estimate of Britain\'s gross domestic product would not be changed by Tuesday\'s industrial production report as the 0.6 percent gain matches with the 0.6 percent forecast. \"And therefore [industrial production] has no impact on the previously published second quarter 2013 GDP estimate,\" ONS said.
