Brokerage houses cut jobs amid sinking earnings

South Korean securities companies have been cutting their payrolls since late 2011, data showed Sunday, as the aftermath of the eurozone fiscal crisis weighed down on their earnings. The combined number of employees at the country's top 10 brokerage houses came to 24,703 as of end-September, down 1,735 from 26,438 tallied two years earlier, according to the data by the Financial Supervisory Service.
