Japan’s Coast Guard said two Chinese fisheries patrol ships remain near Japan’s territorial waters surrounding the Senkaku Islands on Thursday morning. The two ships approached the territorial waters in the East China Sea on Wednesday night. In all, 16 Chinese fisheries patrol ships and maritime surveillance vessels have been spotted in the area since Tuesday, according to Japan’s (NHK WORLD) website. But the Coast Guard said a large Chinese fishing fleet which is reportedly heading for the Senkaku Islands ,has not yet appeared. The Coast Guard has increased the number of ships patrolling the area to ensure that none of the Chinese vessels slip into Japan’s territorial waters.
