U.S. trade restrictions against Cuba under the Trading With the Enemy Act will continue for one year, U.S. President Barack Obama said Monday. In a memorandum of determination, Obama said some authorities under the Trading With the Enemy Act are to end Sept 14, and he determined \"the continuation for one year of the exercise of those authorities with respect to Cuba is in the national interest of the United States.\" The law gives the U.S. president the power to oversee or restrict any and all trade between the United States and its enemies in times of war. Cuba has been under a U.S. trade embargo for decades.
