DP World, UAE Region signed a partnership agreement with Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) Security Department to strengthen and provide greater strategic depth and efficiency to security operations at its port facilities in Dubai. The agreement was signed by Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region and Mahmood Amin, CEO of PCFC Security Department at the DP World head office in Dubai on Monday. The leading regional marine terminal operator, announced that it has aims to achieve enhanced alignment of planning, training, crisis management, information exchange and other security related activities at Jebel Ali Port, Port Rashid and Al Hamriya Port. PCFC Security Department is entrusted with regulating, undertaking, managing and controlling all security operations of business units under Dubai World. Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said: “The total safety of our terminals is an absolute priority. At DP World, UAE Region we regard security as a baseline service provided to our customers to protect people and assets. This agreement will strengthen our strategic relationship with PCFC Security Department, which is doing excellent work at DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port, which has the world’s most advanced Integrated Security System.” Mahmood Amin, Chief Executive Officer, PCFC Security Department, said: “This agreement will ensure that our decade old partnership with DP World, UAE Region will continue to pursue its objectives of ensuring peace of mind for its customers. Our teams work round the clock in the three ports in compliance with international security benchmarks. Our success is underpinned by our strong security ethos and the commitment to DP World.” DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port, has won three coveted awards from the Higher Committee for UAE Civil Seaports & Airports Security for adherence to the highest levels of security requirements, which include implementing the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code to enhance security of ships and port facilities, and providing specialist training to security teams. Jebel Ali was certified Best Port Overall, Best Port in Qualifying & Training and Best Port in Emiratisation. DP World operates more than 60 terminals across six continents, with container handling generating around 80 per cent of its revenue. In addition, the company currently has 10 new developments and major expansions underway in 9 countries. DP World aims to enhance customers’ supply chain efficiency by effectively managing container, bulk and other terminal cargo. Its dedicated, experienced and professional team of more than 30,000 people serves customers in some of the most dynamic economies in the world. The company constantly invests in terminal infrastructure, facilities and people, working closely with customers and business partners to provide quality services today and tomorrow, when and where customers need them. In taking this customer-centric approach, DP World is building on the established relationships and superior level of service demonstrated at its flagship Jebel Ali facility in Dubai, which has been voted “Best Seaport in the Middle East” for 18 consecutive years. In 2011, DP World handled nearly 55 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) across its portfolio from the Americas to Asia. With a pipeline of expansion and development projects in key growth markets, including India, China and the Middle East, capacity is expected to rise to around 103 million TEU by 2020, in line with market demand.
