The Economic Development Conference in A\'Dhahirah Governorate Kicked off at Crowne Plaza Muscat Hotel today, under the theme \"Towards a Better Economy\" under the patronage of Sultan bin Salim al-Habsi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning and lasts for two days. Al-Habsi said in a statement that the conference is one of the important conferences for sustainable development in the Sultanate, the development of governorates and the economic diversification in them and will focus on the five-year plans at the national level. He expressed the hope that the Conference will come out with good recommendations through working papers to be presented, calling for the continuation of the initiatives by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) for all other governorates in the Sultanate. On his part, Ayman bin Abdullah al-Hasani, Deputy Chairman of OCCI and Head of the Supervisory Committee of the Conference called in his speech to give the private sector in the governorate a great importance to achieve economic development and support, encourage it and facilitate procedures for it and involve it in projects implementation and take its proposals and opinions into consideration when developing schemes and projects. Khalil bin Abdullah al-Khunji, Chairman of OCCI said that OCCI adopted the Conference on the basis of its belief in the importance of its contribution to the development of provincial economies and keeping pace with government guidelines on this aspect, as well as its support to its branches in the governorates and activate them for the performance of their roles and responsibilities more effectively during the next stage.
