The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached 117.41 in January 2013, and with comparison with the base year (2007 =100); it increase by 0.13% compared to its value at the end of December 2012, while it increased by 0.43% compared to its value at the end of January 2012, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The findings of the CPI for January 2013 at the national level indicate increases in the following major expenditure groups: Restaurants and hotels at 0.55%, Food and Soft Drinks (0.29 %), Transportation (0.28%), Housing (0.21%), Beverages and tobacco (0.17%), Medical care (0.17%) and Recreation and culture (0.16%). At the same time, the NBS added, there were decreases in other major expenditure groups: Textiles, clothing and footwear at 0.56%, Furniture and household goods (0.15%), and Miscellaneous goods and services (0.15%). At the Emirate level, the CPI fluctuated considerably in the various emirates as shown below: - Abu Dhabi 1 +0.16% - Dubai 2 +0.53% - Sharjah +0.29% - Ajman +0.06% - Umm Al-Qaiwain +0.03% - Ras Al-Khaimah +0.24% - Fujairah +0.02%.
