The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 116.86 in August 2012, and with comparison with the base year, it increased by 0.33 per cent compared to its value at the end of July 2012, while it increased by 0.95 per cent compared to its value at the end of August 2011, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Sunday. The findings of the CPI for August 2012 at the national level indicate increases in the following major expenditure groups: food and soft drinks at 1.91 per cent, recreation and culture 0.28 per cent, furniture and household goods 0.09 per cent, miscellaneous goods and services 0.07 per cent, textiles, clothing and footwear 0.07 per cent, transportation 0.03 per cent and health 0.02 per cent, the Bureau added.
