Dubai’s electronic payment, known as ePay, transactions jumped by 19 per cent and value soared by 23 per cent to Dh3.2 billion during the first nine months of the year, compared to same period last year. This was announced by Ahmad bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment Department at a news conference held to announce Dubai eGovernment’s hosting of 26 government entities at the forthcoming Gitex Technology Week. Bin Humaidan mentioned that the ePay service continues to receive a favourable response as during January to September period 2.45 transactions done compared with Dh2.6 billion through 2.05 million transactions for the same period in 2011. The department announced its preparations and plans for Gitex Technology Week 2012 from October 14 to 18; including a larger combined stand of 2,700 square metres to host 26 government entities, the best online customer raffle; and the launch of its smartphone applications. Commenting on the participation, Bin Humaidan said: “Our primary goal is to enable our government partners to display their services effectively and interact with all customers. Together we will accelerate eTransformation in Dubai in line with our leadership’s bold ambition.” From khaleejtimes
