The 14th Session of the Committee on Transport of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) kicked off here on Wednesday with Kuwait participating The session discusses the progress achieved in the field of transport since the 13th session of the Committee on Transport, which was held in Beirut last year. Kuwait is represented by Eng. Abdulhadi Al-Marri - Director the Transportation Sector Department at the Ministry of Communications, Dr. Eid Al-Azmi - superintendent of transportation dept., and Eng. Jamal Al-Kandari, superintendent of railways dept. During the session, the Kuwaiti delegation is to submit a draft on development of integrated transportation system in the country, as well as Kuwait\'s implementation of the recommendations issued by ESCWA\'s Transport Committee at the 13th Session, Eng. Al-Marri stated to KUNA. Also, Kuwait had joined the Arab East roads agreement since its establishment as it went a long way in implementing the agreement\'s articles and developing roads in accordance to the agreement\'s standards, added Al-Marri. In addition, he indicated that Kuwait had also joined the Arab East railways agreement as it is currently in the process of accomplishing a railway linking Kuwait with its Arab surrounding in accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway project, and Arab-linked railways.
