
The European consumers are becoming more optimistic. The sentiment of consumers in most of the 28 EU countries improved in the second quarter this year, German market research institute GfK announced in Nuremberg on Friday.
The European Consumer Climate Index, based on a monthly survey of 40,000 citizens of all EU countries, for the second quarter rose slightly to 9.1 points, which is the highest level since April 2008, according to GfK's statistics.
"Despite all discussions and crises, the recovery appears in a few countries of the EU and therefore it seems to solidify in the European Union," GfK explained.
"The level is still low, but the direction is right," German media cited GfK expert Rolf Buerkl as reporting.
However, the Nuremberg-based institute also reminded that the crises in Ukraine as well as in Iraq might destabilize the cautious recovery in Europe.
