
The Family Bank has won the Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders in the category of Best Arab SMEs Initiative. A prize-distribution ceremony was held today at Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of UAE Deputy President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. The prize-winning Family Bank is first Islamic micro-finance bank of its kind in the Arab World, which was established to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). UAE Deputy President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum presented Social Development Minister and Family Bank Chairperson Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Balooshi with the award. The award-distribution award was attended by Family-Bank Chief Executive Officer Dr. Atef Elshabrawy, Public Relations and Media Officer Ali Sharafi and non-financial programmes Chief Ms. Fatima Al-Ansari. The Family Bank was awarded the Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders in the category of Best Arab SMEs Initiative in recognition of its pioneering role in promoting the concepts of social work and development partnership. Social Development Minister and Family Bank Chairperson Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Balooshi dedicated the award to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women. The Family bank, the brainchild of the Social Development Ministry, was established in partnership with the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), Bahrain and Kuwait Bank, Ithmar Bank, and Ahli United Bank and Kuwait Finance House.
