The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) on Tuesday sealed five food institutions with red wax and referred them to court for health and safety violations. JFDA Director General Hayel Obeidat said that inspection teams suspended 71 food outlets in Amman during the last 10 days. He noted that the number of closures reached five in the last 10 days of Ramadan compared with 23 in the first 10 days. This decrease is because many institutions committed to the regulations, in addition to the actions of inspection teams and the people’s attention to the quality of food, he said. Obeidat added that inspection teams organised 40 visits to food outlets in Southern Ghor and closed down six institutions. He added that the JFDA allowed many violators to re-open their establishments after they rectified their violations. From JT
