A delegation led by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, The Elders, arrived in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Tuesday for a two-day visit, official news agency MENA reported. The delegation, comprising international personalities and Nobel Peace Prize laureates, were received by the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Ann W. Patterson. During the two-day visit, Carter and his delegation will meet with al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb to discuss the latest developments in Egypt and the whole region. A press conference will be held after the meeting. The Elder group is an international nongovernmental organization, whose members include former officials, activists, and human rights advocates.
