The representatives of the Cooperation Council for the arab states of the Gulf (GCC) member state, held talks with their counterparts from Central America, South America and the Caribbean (SELAC) late Friday at the UN headquarters. The GCC’s delegation to the meeting was led by Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the UN Abdullah Al-Maalami, as his country currently holds the presidency of the GCC. The delegation is also comprised of Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaild bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Secretary General of the GCC Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani. While SELAC’s delegation was chaired by Chile’s Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno Charmi, whose country holds the presidency of the group which comprises 33 countries from Central America, South America and the Caribbean. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of enhancing ties of cooperation between the GCC and SELAC in the political, economic and commercial fields in addition to a set of other regional and international issues of mutual concern.
