German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed doubts Wednesday whether European Union leaders meeting in Brussels this week will be able to reach an agreement on a new seven-year EU budget. “I don’t know if we will be able to reach a conclusion tomorrow or the next day,” Merkel told the German parliament. But she said Germany wanted an agreement on the budget, which is to run from 2014 to 2020, reported German Press Agency dpa. She said that if the 27 EU member states failed to hammer out a deal at the summit on Thursday and Friday they would have to meet again early next year.
