Hadi meets US secretary of treasury in Washington

President Abdo Rabu Mansour Hadi has met at his residence in Washington on Monday with the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Jacob J. Lew. Hadi and Lew reviewed at their meeting sides of mutual cooperation between the two friendly countries in the economic and financial fields as well as the available means to promote the economic, financial and monetary stability, and to address the budget deficit of the state. The President highlighted the economic situation in Yemen, particularly since the outbreak of the crisis in 2011, explaining the difficulties and circumstances the country is undergoing. He also noted that the government is striving to deal with the economic faltering and deficit in all different ways, expressing his hope from the donor countries to fulfill their announced commitments to Yemen in order to overcome its current challenges. For his part, the American official welcomed President Hadi and talked about the aim of inviting Hadi to visit Washington by saying that the U.S government wanted to study some perceptions with the President in order to shade more light on real situation in Yemen. \"We will build a strategy and a joint coordination between the Friends of Yemen group and donors on the regional and international levels, and we will exert more efforts with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) to follow up the strategy\'s implementation to assist Yemen to come out its ongoing difficulties,\" he said. He also expressed great appreciation at what has been accomplished in the framework of the implementation of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, especially at the level of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) in which its outputs will be the beginning of building a better future for Yemen. The American Secretary reviewed the U.S. Treasury\'s efforts in setting up a fund to support the transitional phase, as well as the U.S. administration\'s efforts to mobilize regional and international support for the success of the Friends of Yemen meeting in the coming September, in the American city of New York and under the auspices of Saudi Arabia.
