Hollande calls for euro crisis solution at October summit

French President Francois Hollande called Wednesday for an October EU summit to find permanent solutions to the eurozone crisis, after talks in Paris with European Union President Herman van Rompuy. However, he gave no examples of specific outcomes he expected from the October 18-19 summit, dpa reported. Hollande also demanded the rapid implementation of the growth pact agreed at the last EU summit in June and underscored the importance of a banking union to give renewed confidence to the eurozone economies. The European Commission is to unveil proposals for such a union next week.
