Tehran - Irna

Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing enhancement of ties with the Latin American countries, particularly in economic and parliamentary fields. Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with the Head of Bolivian Parliament Foreign Policy Commission Galo Silvestre Bonifas in Tehran on Thursday. He recalled that Iran and Latin American countries developed close and cordial relations in recent years. Larijani noted that the parliaments important roles in promotion of mutual ties among their governments and nations. Praising the revolutionary stances of the Bolivian government, especially Bolivian President Evo Morales vis-à-vis international events, Iran’s Majlis speaker said that the resistance of the government and nation of Bolivia against the pressures of the global powers has strengthened Bolivia’s position in international arena. Larijani also expressed hope that Iran and Bolivia will increase the level of their trade transactions. “Iran has vast economic and industrial potentials and resources, particularly in the field of export of technical and engineering services and energy for development of Bolivia,” he added. Head of Bolivian Parliament Foreign Policy Commission Galo Silvestre Bonifas for his part said that the experiences and achievements by Iran in the years following the 1979 Islamic Revolution are good models and examples for Bolivia’s planning and policy-making. He pointed out that the visit of Bolivia’s parliamentary delegation to Iran had important achievements for strengthening of ties between two countries.
