Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi will inform Lebanon that his country insists on the implementation of agreements signed with Lebanon in the span of three months, ministerial sources told The Daily Star Wednesday. Sources said that Lebanon does not feel obligated to adhere to any timeframe for the implementation of agreements. Concerned ministries will study agreements individually, they added. Rahimi, who arrived in Lebanon at 12.30 p.m., is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail in Beirut. There are 16 outstanding agreements between Lebanon and Iran signed under the government of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri. The accords are in the fields of health, social affairs, energy, industry, agriculture, justice and economy. Upon arrival, Rahimi was met at Rafik Hariri International Airport by Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, representing Lebanon’s top three leaders. The delegation Rahimi heads will hold talks with the Lebanese side of the higher Iranian-Lebanese Committee, approved by the Cabinet last month.
