
The 13th General Conference of Islamic Capitals and Cities continue convening in Makkah where more than 250 representatives from different Arab and Islamic countries have discussed issues of sustainable environment and development. The conference has tackled more than 42 researches on environment protection legislations and means of achieving sustainable development. The event also presented an opportunity to exchange experiences and present the best practices in setting up and implementing environmental protection regulations. The conference also highlighted the effects of public transportations on environment, water rights that should be given top legal priority, air pollution and the potential threats posed by human interaction to biological diversity and the international responsibility towards natural disasters. Encouraging the use of renewable energy resources and reducing higher electricity consumption are also some of the key points that were tackled in the three-day conference.
