Jeddah - Wafa
The Palestinian economy is in a developing phase but lacks the infrastructure that qualifies it to work independent from the Israeli economy, which leads to a rise in rate of unemployment, particularly among graduates, Monday said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It said in a press release on the human situation in Gaza during the month of July, OIC said that the siege on Gaza and the Israeli ban on Palestinian exports play a major role in the decline of the Palestinian economy and rise in unemployment as well as leads to the dismemberment of the geographic areas and stops the operations of economic institutions. The OIC recommended as a solution for the unemployment crisis to provide funding for the implementation of small projects, provide loan programs for graduates in the Arab countries and to open neighboring markets for graduates. The report mentioned the poor humanitarian conditions of Palestinians in Gaza and projects implemented by international and local organizations concerned with humanitarian affairs as well as the movement of multinational humanitarian aid missions to Gaza in July. Concerning Israeli violations against international solidarity groups in Gaza, the report mentioned the Israeli navy takeover of Dignity ship, which was part of the freedom flotilla aid ships to Gaza. The report also addressed Palestinian suffering in Gaza due to the power outage and difficulty in getting clean water.
