A report released Thursday ranks Italy as one of the least attractive countries worldwide for businesses looking to invest. According to the survey conducted by auditing firm Grant Thornton, of the 50 countries examined worldwide, taking into consideration 22 indicators of dynamism, Italy placed 38. The Global Dynamism Index (GDI) was developed by Grant Thornton in association with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The report said that \"the key to business growth remains strongly present in many mature economies, but the mountains of debt to be dealt with, as is the case in Italy, are deterrents\". Scandinavian countries are listed as the most dynamic in the world, with a total of 66.1 points in their favor on the index, followed by North America (62.9) and by the G7 countries (59.6). For individual countries, however, Singapore has the highest point ranking at 72.1, followed by Finland (70.5) and Sweden (69.6). Italy has 52.3 points on the index. Greece and Venezuela rank lowest with 49.2 points and 37.4 points respectively.
