Secretary General of the Agriculture Ministry Radi Tarawneh signed with his Lebanese counterpart Lewis Haddad in Amman on Wednesday, the minutes of the Joint Jordanian-Lebanese Agricultural Committee meetings. The two sides highlighted the importance of activating memorandums and agreements signed by the two countries. This requires the formation of a joint technical committee that should include specialists from both countries in the fields of agricultural research and marketing with the participation of the private sector. Jordan's exports of agricultural products to Lebanon declined from 22,600 tons in 2012 to 11,900 tons in 2013 while Lebanese exports rose from 45,000 tons in 2012 to 91,000 tons in 2013. The two sides stressed the need to facilitate the flow of agricultural products which has been affected by the crisis in Syria.
