
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Saif on Monday discussed with Director-General at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Martin Dahinden, ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.The minister briefed Dahinden on the economic hardships in Jordan and the humanitarian and financial burdens being borne by Jordan which are basically a repercussion of the regional turmoil. The minister spoke about hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees and their impact on the Kingdom’s resourcesandinfrastructure. Saif also spoke about the challenges being faced by the local communities that are hosting Syrian refugees.Further, the minister thanked the Swiss government, represented by the agency, for the humanitarian support provided for Syrian refugees in Jordan.Meanwhile, the Swiss official valued the humanitarian role played by Jordan towards the Syrian refugees, and vowed to continue to support Jordan to help it cope with the ramifications of the influx of Syrian refugees.
