
Jordan’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry will organize a joint businessmen’s economic forum on the sidelines of the fifth session of Jordananian-Sudanese Higher Joint Committee which will be held in Amman later this month.Bilateral meetings with business owners and cooperation agreements will also be dealt with during the forum, which was agreed upon on Wednesday during a meeting between President of Amman Chamber of Commerce, Issa Haider Murad, and Sudanese ambassador Othman Hamad.The two officials also agreed on the importance the two countries’ private sector preparing properly for the Committee’s meeting by proposing solutions that will help increase trade between the two countries.Murad stressed the need to encourage investment opportunities to increase bilateral economic growth, stressing the Chamber’s willingness to host trade delegations from the Republic of Sudan and provide all the necessary advice.He also pointed to the importance of increasing Jordanian investments in Sudan and making use of the opportunities in the agricultural, livestock, pharmaceuticals and medical tourism sectors.The envoy stressed his country’s keenness to facilitate all required action to enhance trade cooperation with Jordan, pointing to the absence of any obstacles in the way of Jordanian investors and businessmen in obtaining visas for Sudan.Jordan’s exports to Sudan during the past year amounted to JD54 million compared to JD34 million of imports. Most prominent goods imported by Sudan are chemicals, pharmaceuticals, herbicides and air conditioners.
