Kazakhstan could become a significant supplier of gas to world markets by 2030 through its secondary production of presently contracted oil and gas fields, Kazakh Deputy Oil and Gas Minister Bolat Akchulakov said on Wednesday. “Kazakhstan is not a global player in mining and production of gas, but due to the fact that gradually liquid hydrocarbon production will decrease, we will have to retrieve gas that is currently located in seams, we assume that the amount of 109-110 billion cubic meters will be achieved through secondary extraction,” Akchulakov said during the Astana Economic Forum. He said that Kazakhstan plans to increase its production from the current 40 billion cubic meters to 109-110 billion by 2030.
