His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday reiterated his support of Jordanian youth entrepreneurship initiatives that provide training and funding to turn them into initiatives and start-up companies that enable Jordanian youth to contribute to building the future. In remarks during the opening of the new premises of Oasis 500 at the King Hussein Business Park, King Abdullah said Jordan can make achievements thanks for the resolve of young entrepreneurs, whose innovative ideas give a big hope in the future. Public-private partnership in Jordan is distinguished, especially in areas of IT and telecommunications, the King added. “I am proud of the achievements of Jordanian entrepreneurs in the field of information technology and e-content industry,” King Abdullah said. The construction of the new building was funded by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development to support young Jordanian entrepreneurs in the information technology sector. The King toured the building and had a first-hand look at its sections and training halls as well as services presented for Jordanian entrepreneurs. The inauguration ceremony was attended by HRH Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan, Royal Court Chief Riyadh Abu Karaki, Director of King’s Office Imad Fakhouri, Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Hatem Halwani, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jaafar Hassan and other officials. Oasis 500 is an investment and development company. Set in Jordan, it aims to support entrepreneurs by providing them with investment, training and mentorship in an effort to accelerate the transformation of their business ideas and start-ups into high growth companies in the ICT, digital media and mobile sectors.
