Kuwait, India enhance trade cooperation

The volume of trade between India and Kuwait has reached KD 500 million in 2010, and the two seek to enhance trade cooperation, said Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (KCCI) board member Hussein Al-Kharafi on Sunday, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported. Indian imports into Kuwait reached about KD 369 million, while Kuwaiti exports to India were about KD 120 million, Al-Kharafi said during a meeting with a visiting delegation of Indian industrial companies. The Indian delegation's visit aims to enhance the successful trade cooperation between two countries, as well as bringing the Kuwaiti private sector into the fold as a contributor in promoting these relations, he added. Al-Kharafi pointed out to the great potentials in Kuwaiti-Indian private sector partnerships, as India has been able to achieve great successes in the field of foreign investment and in attracting foreign capital. For his part, the head of the Indian visiting delegation and Commissioner of Industries in the Gujarat government Kamal Diyani said that the goal of the visit is to present the many investment opportunities available in Gujarat. The Indian delegation includes companies that specialize in the chemical, petroleum, gas, infrastructure, communication and financial industries.
