Lebanon received a series of grants for the agricultural, wastewater management sectors in July, according to the latest Aid Coordination Newsletter from the Finance Ministry. The European Union provided 1.81 million euros ($2.2 million) for the Agricultural and Rural Development Program through the Agriculture Ministry. The program will span over 36 months and will involve strengthening the ministry’s capacity in designing, implementing and monitoring agricultural policies in addition to enhancing the quality and competitiveness of agricultural products while facilitating credit and services to local farmers. The European Delegation and the President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction signed 2.5 million euros worth of grant contracts with nine municipalities for development projects in north Lebanon in the fields of education, health, water and sanitation, irrigation and agricultural development, and waste management.
