Malaysian PM praises law enforcement cooperation with China

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak praised the cooperation of law enforcement between Malaysia and China on Monday, saying his country is willing to continue such cooperation especially in fighting cross-border crimes. The cooperation between Malaysia and China in law enforcement and security has made positive progress in recent years with the joint effort of the two countries, said Najib when meeting the visiting Chinese State Councilor Meng Jianzhu. The Malaysian Prime Minister pledged further cooperation with China in combating all kinds of cross-border crimes while maintain the social development and stability, in order to benefit the people of both counties. Najib also highly valued the strategic cooperation between China and Malaysia, saying his government attributes great importance to the friendship with China, and is willing to deepen the bilateral exchange and cooperation. Meng, who is also holding the portfolio of the minister of public security, hailed the achievement between Chinese and Malaysian authorities in combating cross-border crimes. It has been proven that the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries had become the significant guarantee of legitimate rights of the two peoples as well as the stability, security and friendship of the two countries, said Meng. Meng told Najib that China was willing to jointly deepen the practical cooperation with Malaysia while pushing for collaboration in greater scope between the law enforcement agencies, in boosting the stability and prosperous of the region. The bilateral relations between China and Malaysia have been on a fast track in recent years, as the leaders of the two countries exchange visits frequently, political trust continue to deepen and many achievements of cooperation were made in various fields, Meng said. Both countries have expressed mutual understanding and support in topics related to major national interests of each other, while keeping close coordination in international and regional affairs to safeguard common interests, he said. China and Malaysia have strengthen cooperation in combating cross-border crimes in recent year. A bilateral agreement on fighting transnational crimes was sighed between the law enforcement agencies earlier this year, and the first working- group level meeting were held in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
