HE Minister of Economy and Finance Yousuf Hussein Kamal launched Monday a new trademark in Qatar called Ooredoo (formerly Qtel), in a ceremony held by the company tonight with a number of Ministers and ambassadors attending . The company announced its new trademark on February 25 during the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona. The launch took place in the Katara theater, it celebrated the achievements of the company on the international stage. They also showed two films that were produced specifically for the event. The celebration ended with a group of children walking on stage carrying red balloons. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Soud Al Thani said that the new name is an attempt by the company to move closer to its clients. He added that Ooredoo will not settle for providing telecommunications services but will look to enrich the lives of the individuals in the Qatari society. The Chairman of the Board of Directors revealed that Ooredoo will launch the G4 network during next month, noting that the company plans to make a strong contribution to achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ooredoo Group is a leading international communications company, with a significant presence in the MENA region and Southeast Asia, and having a consolidated customer base of 83 million as of December 2011. The Ooredoo Group’s principle activities are mobile telephone services, broadband solutions, digital futures and fiber technologies, serving both consumer and business markets. Its headquarters are in Doha.
