Nakilat is flying the flag for Qatar’s marine industry at the Gastech exhibition in London this week, showcasing its world-leading gas carrying fleet of ships and Qatar’s own ship repair and shipbuilding facilities. Delegates from Nakilat and its joint venture companies are in London to promote Nakilat’s broad spectrum of marine activities to 10,000 gas industry professionals from across the globe, the company said in a statement. Representatives from Nakilat’s Fleet department are highlighting the strength of Nakilat’s gas shipping fleet, which is the largest in the world, comprising 54 LNG carriers and four LPG carriers. Ship repair yard Nakilat-Keppel Offshore and Marine (N-KOM) is at Gastech to reinforce the message that its world-class dry docking facilities at Qatar’s Port of Ras Laffan are attracting vessels from around the globe. The activities of shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) and towage specialist Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller (NSW) are also being promoted at Gastech including the recent launch of the 140m LOR Barge at Ras Laffan, which demonstrated the might of Qatar’s fast-developing marine industry. Speaking from Nakilat’s stand in the Qatar Petroleum section at Gastech, Nakilat Managing Director Muhammad Ghannam said “This year Nakilat, N-KOM, NDSQ and NSW have generated a lot of interest at Gastech. Visitors are impressed by the scale of our operations and by the quality of the expertise and services we offer. We’ve had many successful meetings in support of the steady growth of our businesses and of Qatar’s marine industry for many years to come. Nakilat’s Deputy Managing Director Eng.
