Tehran - FNA

Mayor of Portugal’s Sousel City Armando Mendonca Varela asked for the consolidation of mutual economic cooperation between Iran and Portugal. “During the visits that we have had to different parts of Qazvin, we have observed proper grounds for investment in this city and we can conduct good activities in the economic field in Qazvin,” Varela said. He said he has identified investment capacities in Qazvin, and said, “We hope that the economic relations between Qazvin and Portugal will be increased in future.” On Saturday, Qazvin City Mayor Masoud Nosrati said that a Portuguese Delegation has arrived in Qazvin province to discuss bilateral ties. “A 17-member Portuguese delegation comprising three mayors, deputy economy ministers and academicians as well as tourism, sports, commercial and industrial experts are the guest of Qazvin city to discuss mutual cooperation,” Nosrati said. He added that the necessary studies for bilateral interactions between Qazvin and Portugal have been taking place since six months ago. “The visit of the Portuguese delegation to Qazvin is a good start for establishing good contacts between Portugal and Iran, specially Qazvin,” the mayor said. In September, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met his Portuguese counterpart Rui Manuel Parente Chancerelle de Machete. During the meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, Zarif underlined that there is no problems between Iran and Portugal, and added, "If proper grounds are paved, economic cooperation can further expand." De Machete, for his part, referred to the good relations between Tehran and Lisbon, and called continued communications and consultations between the two countries as constructive.
