
Pakistan and China have signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) to ensure cooperation in various areas of economy on Friday on a five-day official visit of Pakistani premier to China. According to official press release, the first pact pertaining to an ambitious long term project approximately costing USD 18 billion that would include building around 200 kilometers tunnels was Pak-China Economic corridor. The Chinese Premier, Li Kiqiang, said that China has strategic interest in this Corridor. The two countries also inked an agreement on economic and technical cooperation. Two letters of exchange were signed for training courses for textile, flood relief and disastrous management and provision of equipment for eradication of Polio, said the press release. Both the ruling parties of the countries, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Ruling Communist Party of China, also signed a MoU for cooperation and exchanges. A document was signed by Strategic Communication organization of Pakistan and Huawei Company from China to lay optic fiber for setting up communication link between Pakistan and China. A MoU on Local home solar solution project was signed for meeting the challenges faced by Pakistan in energy sector. Pakistans Institute of Strategic Study and China Institute of Contemporary Study signed another MoU for cooperation. The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Premier Li Keqaing witnessed the signing of the agreements and MoUs, the press release added.
