
The fifth edition of Malta President's Charity Fun Run kicked off on Sunday morning. The activity aims to instill a healthy lifestyle among the population while raising funds for charity. It started at 10:00 a.m. (0900 GMT), with thousands of participants pouring out of the gate of the presidential palace - San Anton Palace. The 7-km run starts from a town named Attard in central Malta, and passes through a number of villages along the way before ending in Valletta. Thousands of other participants also walk from Malta's Santa Venera to Valletta. A record of nearly 14,000 had registered for the fun run, each paying 10 euros (13.6 U.S. dollars), making this one of the biggest fund-raising events for L-Istrina, Malta's major charity event organized by The Malta Community Chest Fund. President George Abela is leading the joggers while Mrs Abela is leading the walkers. L-Istrina events continue next Sunday with the popular Paqpaqli ghal-Istrina motor show at the airport.
