Qatari fashion brand QELA is showcasing its latest creations at the 11th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) which officially opened Monday at the Qatar National Convention Centre. One of the 34 exhibitors, QELA, part of Qatar Luxury Group (QLG), is displaying designs in precious metals and gemstones that speak art as a universal language. The new jewellery designs crystallise QELAs visions of identity, heritage, and aesthetics. Their forms reflect the contemplative timelessness of fine arts and the flowing, subtle shapes and colours of the natural landscape. They are crafted in precious materials which call to mind a shimmering desert palette: white and pink gold, pearls, citrine, amethyst, and white and brown diamonds, the Qatari brand said. Architectural forms inspire motifs such as an asymmetric silver buckle-ring which features throughout in the Fann line, and the stylised patterns of the brands own mashrabiya, a key element in the Jouthour and Tourath rings. Its jewellery also draws inspiration from Qatars vibrant natural landscapes. Its Rimaal line reflects rippling dunes theme. Wardat Al Sahra catches natural crystalline forms of sand-roses. Six different gemstones in the Erth Heritage creations depict hues of sky over the desert at different times of day and night. Managing Director and Vice Chairperson of the Board of QLG Haya bint Khalifa Al Nassr, said, “Our new jewellery lines are supreme examples of how the QELA team breathes luminosity and life into this guiding ethos. “These are designs that speak worldwide from truly local roots, not least because all of QELAs unique jewellery pieces are designed and handmade in our workshops here in Doha.” The QELA pavillion will hold live demonstrations of jewelling process for visitors to understand how much skill and patience is needed to hand-craft its creations, QELA said. The DJWE is open up to March 2.
