The Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) held talks Sunday with the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development here in Doha. A number of Qatari and Greek businessmen discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the private sectors in the industry and commerce fields. They also discussed advancing cooperation in the energy, tourism and banking sectors. QCCI board member Abdul Rahman Abdul Jalil stressed after the meeting the importance of creating trade partnerships between Qatari businessmen and their Greek counterparts, as it will benefit the economy of both countries. He also praised the strength of the Qatari economy, which he said was one of the fastest growing economies in the world. For his part, Rashad Mabger, Secretary-General of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Development, praised the development that Qatar is currently undergoing in all fields of production. He said the State of Qatar managed to capture the attention of the world not just for its growing political role, but also for its prominent role on the humanitarian and economic levels. He said that the Greek economic crisis was a \"passing\" crisis that any country could go through, adding said that Greece was working on overcoming it to build a strong economy. Greek continues to suffer from debt crisis that first emerged in late 2009. There is currently a strong debate in the country on whether to accept the austerity measures demanded by the EU and IMF to get a new loan, or reject them and risk going out of euro zone.
