Russia to spend $280M on town hit by flood

Russia is set to spend $280 million to restore a town severely damaged by floods in the Krasnodar region, officials said. The funds will go to the southern town of Krymsk, one of three cities hit by floods July 7 that killed 171 people and flooded 7,000 homes, RIA Novosti reported. \"We\'ll restore the town, social facilities and infrastructure. We\'ll be building a new neighborhood with a school and a hospital. A total of 9 billion rubles [$280 million] have been allocated from the federal and regional budgets for restoring the town of Krymsk,\" Krasnodar Gov. Alexander Tkachyov said. Most of the deaths and property damage from the floods occurred in Krymsk. Utility lines, roads and railways were also severely damaged.
