Russia and Ukraine agreed to resume the serial production of the airliners Antonov An-124, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the negotiations with visiting Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovich in the Russian capital on Tuesday. “A tangible potential exists in the aircraft-building,” the president noted. The countries “reached an agreement to resume the joint serial production of the airliners An-124. The governments of Russia and Ukraine have concluded an agreement on state support for this initiative,” Putin was quoted by Itar-Tass as saying. “We will continue to encourage the infrastructure projects,” the Russian president stated. He noted that the document was signed to build a transport passage across the Kerch Strait. “In general, the facilitation of mutual trips of people is our priority,” Putin noted. In this regard, he also noted that Russia and Ukraine continue to work on making the conditions of crossing the border between the two countries easier. “The agreement on the issue was concluded,” the Russian president added.
