Senate approves Obama\'s nominee for US trade representative

The US Senate on Wednesday confirmed Michael Froman as US trade representative to succeed Ron Kirk, who stepped down in March, dpa reported. Froman, currently a deputy national security adviser focusing on international economics, was confirmed by 93-4. President Barack Obama said he was pleased with the Senate\'s bipartisan action. \"Mike has been my closest advisor on a broad range of international economic issues and will continue to play a key role on my economic team,\" Obama said.
