South Korea, DPRK agree on joint committee for Kaesong complex

South Korea and the Democratic People\'s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday reached a final agreement on forming a joint management committee for the Kaesong industrial complex. \"Both sides virtually agreed on how to set up the joint committee,\" an official at Seoul\'s Unification Ministry said by phone. \"But, final agreements have not been exchanged yet. The exchange would happen tomorrow.\" The two Koreas agreed on documents related to the establishment of an inter-Korean joint committee that will manage the Kaesong industrial zone via communication lines in the truce village of Panmunjom. The jointly operated factory park in DPRK\'s border town of Kaesong had been managed solely by the DPRK\'s General Bureau for Development of Central Special Zone in the past. Top officials from both sides who will be in charge of the joint committee have not inked the agreement yet, the official said, noting that details on the agreement will be unveiled after the final signing. On Aug. 14, Seoul and Pyongyang agreed to reopen the Kaesong industrial zone, which had been suspended for more than four months after the DPRK pulled out all of its 53,000 workers from the factory park in early April.
