South Korea and British financial authorities have agreed toexpand cooperation to prepare for the unification of the Korean Peninsula.Officials of leading South Korean and British financial firms reached the deal during the first South Korea-Britain financial cooperation forum held in London onTuesday, according to Korea’s (KBS WORLD) website. They also agreed to work together to help rebuild North Korea’s economy followingunification and ways to jointly advance into financial markets of third countries.Participants shared the view that if funds for the unification of the two Koreas areraised at international financial markets, the burdens of unification would be eased and South Koreans would pay less in taxes. The forum was held as a follow-up measure to agreements South Korea’s PresidentPark Geun-hye reached during her state visit to London last November.
