The Minister of Investment Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail underlined that Sudan hoped to attract nearly 15 billion dollars of Saudi investments in the country during the Saudi-Sudanese Investment Forum, which is scheduled to be held during 13-14 of the current April. The minister said that the Sudanese side would forward more than 300 investment projects in agricultural, animal and industrial fields as well as in the domains of mining, infrastructure and services. Dr. Ismail added that Sudan, according to the resources it enjoys, could assume the first rank in responding to the initiatives of the food securities including the initiative of the Saudi Monarch King Abdallah bin Abdal-Aziz. He revealed that the volume of foreign investments in Sudan ranged between 28 -30 billion dollars in accordance with the latest statistics of the Arab Investment Authority for the period 2000-2012, pointing out that Sudan assumed second rank at the level of Arab states following the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which topped the list with about 47 billion dollars during the the same period.
